My name is Aliyah Simmons, and as you may know life causes many of us to wear many hats. I always wear a small hat under my big hat, and that is my teaching hat in which one may refer to it as a “cap”. It keeps me warm, and kinda grounded. Teaching has been my foundation probably because my mother was a teacher and even before I graduated from high school I was set up with a class. Over my teaching cap, I believe I have been wearing my Parenting and Caregiver hat. Those hats have been on for quite a while. Sometimes I take one off, but not often. A year ago I took off one of them and began to wear my Real Estate hat. It has been a great break from one HEAVY hat. The Real Estate hat has been on, because I love viewing and staging homes, showing homes, and learning about the Market. Changing hats often has been determined by many factors. (Sometimes due to a self need, or when I decide to do my due diligence to help others. )! The opportunity knocked and I put my Real estate hat on the side and focused on the Home Economics side of me (Art and Sewing) and wore my Fashion Model Hat. I had soo much fun!!💕😊, then I spoke to my daughters and learned about current situations tweens and teens girls were facing threw on my Black Doll Affairs hat, and focused on teaching girls the importance of using their voice and that they are beautiful regardless of hue. Throughout my many endeavors, You probably can tell I believe in the Alpha and Omega, you probably also can tell that I have a responsibility to help others, This weekend, I will be using one of my favorite hats; The Talented Tenth hat. It brings out the service in me to help those who are in need. W. E. B. Du Bois expressed and the importance of teaching and reaching. Time to act.
